The Superintendant and I have both agreed that the Par 4 7th hole at PigSkin National Golf Course will be lengthened by some 100 yards to prevent the massacre that just happened!  I don’t recall the scoring on a single hole being so good.  The average score on #7 was an incredible 3.85!

Well – Where do I start with the accolades.  Here we go:  A standing ovation is in order for both WINNING!!! and VegasAvalanche on the White Tee for scoring the rounds first PERFECT WEEK!  Each has won $500 for their efforts!  They both also scored an Ace or 3 under on the hole!   I also gotta give kudos to another 5 winners of the weekly PigSkinGolf 6-Pack contest.  The winners of $50 each are all on the White Tee and they are:  Beau, mkomara412, SlapShot, VegasAvalanche and of course WINNING!!!.   If you folks could send me an email to give me an updated mailing address, I’ll get those checks in the mail asap.

Some statistics for Hole # 7:  There were 49 players who scored a 4 or better.  Of those 49, 32 scored under par with 13 getting an Eagle and the two above who threw in a Hole In One!

You’ll notice that there are some differences in the layout of the PSG Website.  The crack IT Department has rearranged some of the parts and flopped the Leaderboards on the right side.  The “2nd 6 Hole” Board is on top now  to showcase the standings of the 7th through 12th hole scoring.  The Board on the bottom right is showing the overall standings of the entire round to date.

There are only 9 entries left standing now on the 2nd Chance PSG Survivor Pool.  We’re getting pretty deep into this so I’ll start to see some of you sweat a little going forward.  Good Luck to you all.

A little game picking admin:  Please understand the following as it relates to the cut-off times for making your picks.  For the Survivor Game, you must make your selection for the week prior to the 1st game (usually Thursday Night) on the schedule.  If you don’t – you’re out!  The cut-off time will be approximately 20-30 minutes before kick-off.  The time will be shown on the list of games to be played on the “View/Change My Picks” page.  For the players in the regular PSG game, please make a note of the cut-off times for the rest of the games on the schedule.  Sunday and Monday Night games will normally have the same cut-off time as the first games on Sunday.  This is done so that when the deadline hits, everyone can click on the “Compare All Picks” button to see everybodys picks for the week.  If you have any questions, please drop me a line.

Good Luck on the 8th hole and after that scoring barrage on #7, don’t get too cocky!!

Brian

The Chippers Top 5

Predictions for Week 7:

Washington Redskins (3–3) @ New York Giants (4-2)

The Redskins have a lot going for them, but the Giants are years ahead on offense and infinitely scarier on defense. Could this be a Giants letdown from their win against SF last week? The Redskins offense is playing well but the pass rush of the G-Men will open up rushing lanes for Robert Griffin III and Alfred Morris.  Eli to the rescue once again.

Prediction:  Giants 24  Redskins  23

Baltimore Ravens (5-1) @ Houston Texans (5-1)

If the Ravens were healthy they would have a great shot at taking down the Texans. They’re catching the Texans ticked off after losing their first game against GB last week.  This week they get back to pounding the football. That will help keep the ball away from Joe Flacco, Ray Rice and the Ravens offense.

Prediction:  Texans 35  Ravens 24

Arizona Cardinals (4-2) @ Minnesota Vikings (4-2)

John Skelton, Kevin Kolb…who cares? Neither one is any good, and the Vikings have a tough defense. Adrian Peterson will open things up for Christian Ponder against a tough Cardinals secondary. Arizona has started to slide down and it’s no easier this week. The Cardinals offensive hods this team back.

Prediction:  Vikings  21  Cardinals  6

Jacksonville Jaguars (1-4) @ Oakland Raiders (1-4)

Oakland was minutes away from pulling off a major upset in Atlanta until Carson Palmer threw a horrible interception. This week, Palmer won’t be asked to lead a last-minute drive to win, mostly because the Raiders will have the game well in hand by the fourth quarter.

Prediction:  Raiders 37  Jaguars 10

New Orleans Saints (1-4) @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-3)

Neither team will be able to stop the other. I see this game as an offensive onslaught. Because of that, I’ll take Drew Brees and the Saints over Josh Freeman and the Bucs any day.

Prediction:  Saints  45  Buccaneers  28

Recap of Week # 6:

Eagles  31 Lions 21  Loss – The Defensive Coordinator for the Eagles  isn’t the only one that should have gotten fired after this meltdown against the Lions.  Terrible loss.

Rams 17  Dolphins  14  Loss – Really thought the Rams D would have held the Fish to very little points-certainly enough to pull this one out on the road.

Colts 24  Jets  17  Loss – the “San-Chise”  lives to fight another week in Jersey.  Shouldn’t have gone with a rookie QB on the road…..Lesson learned….

Vikings 20  Redskings 17  Loss – The Skins hounded QB Ponder all day into mistakes and put a solid whoop ass on the Purple People.

Broncos 31  Chargers 30  Win -  Happy Birthday Brian!!!  Thanks Peyton for saving my week!  This loss could possibly have broken the spirit of SD and finally cost the head coach his job.

Weekly Total:  1 – 4.  Year to Date Record:  18 – 12

Week # 5 Recap:

Prediction:  Packers 34  Colts 17  Loss – Andrew Luck looked like a 5 year vet bringing the Colts back to beat a disoriented Packers team.  GB needs to regroup ASAP!

Prediction:  Seahawks 21 Panthers 20  Win – Cam Newton is overrated in case you didn’t know.  The Seahawks defense is for real so watch them as the season progresses.

Prediction:  Patriots 31  Broncos 28 (OT)  Win – No OT, but it sure could have been.  The Broncos need to protect the football.  The 3 fumbles cost them this game.

Prediction:  Saints 35 Chargers 28  Win – In an emotional game with Sean Peyton in the stands, Drew Brees breaks John Unitas’s long standing record of consecutive TD passes in a game with 48 straight!  Congrats Drew and nice win to go with it.

Prediction:  Texans  400  Jets 2  Win – A lot closer game than Houston liked.  This game was two tipped passes away from a Jets victory.  The Texans lose Brian Cushing for the year with a torn ACL.

Weekly Record:  4 – 1.   Year to Date:  17 – 8.  Now we’re Cookin with Gas!!

Chippers Top 5 for Hole # 6 coming tomorrow.  Stay tuned.

The Chippers Top 5

Predictions for Week 5:

Green Bay Packers at Indianapolis Colts

The GB offense is awake now and the Colts are just in the way. Indy doesn’t have the talent to shut the Packer receivers down. Expect a lot of pressure on Colt QB Andrew Luck. An easy game comes at the perfect time for the Pack. Green Bay can’t overlook the Colts, but there’s no way Indianapolis pulls off this upset.

Prediction:  Packers 34  Colts 17

Seattle Seahawks at Carolina Panthers

Panther QB Cam Newton isn’t as good as he was last year, and the Seahawks defense isn’t going make it easy for him. Carolina’s D has disappointed. It’s a long trip for Seattle, but the D is young and hungry. This will be a low-scoring affair.  Seahawk RB Marshawn Lynch should have a decent day. Carolina has the 25th-ranked run defense in the league and can’t stop Lynch.

Prediction:  Seahawks 21 Panthers 20

Denver Broncos at New England Patriots

Denver has owned the Pats of late.  This is the game of the week.  Brady has the edge with the chemistry of his receivers.  Manning has looked better each week and if you watch one game this weekend, be sure to catch this one.  Sorry Arroll and Mercer, but my head has to go with the team that’s home and is playing all around better defense. Peyton is too good to get blown out.

Prediction:  Patriots 31  Broncos 28 (OT)

San Diego Chargers at New Orleans Saints

It’s almost impossible to imagine the Saints at 0-5, especially with a home game coming up. The Chargers have the offensive firepower to keep up with the Saints, but Drew Brees and the home crowd deliver a win (finally).

Prediction:  Saints 35 Chargers 28

Houston Texans at New York Jets

Looks like we can all go to bed at halftime on Monday.  Sorry Bob….

Prediction:  Texans  400  Jets 2

Week # 4 Recap:

Patriots 24 Bills 17  Win -  I didn’t watch this game.  It didn’t matter.  I’m looking forward to this week with Mr. Manning coming to town to bring the Pats fans back to earth as Denver has owned NE over the Brady era.

49ers 24 Jets 13  Win – Embarrassing performance.  The Jets can’t give up on the San-Chise just yet though.  Believe me, Tebow is not the answer!

Packers 33 Saints 27  Win – This was a good game as New Orleans is right on the cusp of winning one.  They’ll get the first W against San Diego this week on Sunday night.

Eagles 27 Giants 21  Win – Nice play calling there Mr. Coughlin.  Just give the damn ball to Eli and let him handle it!

Bears 24 Cowboys 20  Win – The Cowboys are just a weird team to figure out.  A lot of big names on offense.  I guess the O line is the problem.  Give Kyle Orton a chance Mr. Jones!!

Week Total:  5 – 0,  Season to Date:  13 -7  Rev Up those engines!!!
