The Chipper’s Top 5
The final week of the NFL Regular Season is upon us. This will be the last installment of CT5 for the year. Use this well as there is a log jam on top the Leaderboards for the regular games and the final 6 holes. Also, don’t forget that this is a par 5 and it factors into the tie-breaking system. Also, make a note that the Cowboys – Redskins game will be used as this week’s Monday Night game for the tie-breaking process. Good Luck.
Chicago Bears (9-6) vs. Detroit Lions (4-11)
To keep their playoff hopes alive, the Chicago Bears must win. And they will. Jay Cutler will operate against the overrated Detroit defense, and the Bears will hold their breath.
Prediction: Bears 24 Lions 13
Jacksonville Jaguars (2-13) vs. Tennessee Titans (5-10)
The Jaguars gave the Patriots a game. Both these teams suck and may be getting new head coaches this offseason. Chad Henne and company finish off 2012 on a high note and in the most Jaguars-like move ever, the team will actually win in Week 17.
Prediction: Jaguars 21 Titans 20
Houston Texans (12-3) vs. Indianapolis Colts (10-5)
Colts Win!! Colts Win!! Colts Win!! Head Coach Chuck Pagano will be on the sidelines for Indy, so look for his players to give it their all.
Prediction: Colts 27 Texans 24
Oakland Raiders (4-11) vs. San Diego Chargers (6-9)
The Raiders D has been playing relatively well of late and the Black and Silver want to avenge the earlier loss in Oakland. The fans (about 37) in San Diego want to see a home team loss for two reasons: to maybe say a final farewell to Head Coach Turner and to improve their draft position for 2013. Yawner….
Prediction: Raiders 20 Chargers 17
St. Louis Rams (7-7-1) vs. Seattle Seahawks (10-5)
The Seahawks are most definitely “the team no one wants to play” while playing lights-out defense. The Rams have a decent defense themselves, but Seattle is where teams go to get beat.
Prediction: Seahawks 34 Rams 13
The Chippers Top 5
Buffalo Bills vs. Miami Dolphins
Ryan Tannehill should be the starter in Miami for a long time. Ryan Fitzpatrick’s time as the starter in Buffalo should be over soon. Miami fans may be less than thrilled with their team this year, but they get the division win. Go with the home team here.
Prediction: Miami 24 Buffalo 14
Cincinnati Bengals vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
Look for the Steelers to pressure Andy Dalton and throw him off his game early and that’s important because Pittsburgh can’t cover A.J. Green. Bengals have won 5 of the last 6 but don’t get it done in the Steel City.
Prediction: Pittsburgh 28 Cincinnati 24
St. Louis Rams vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Bucs were whooped by the Saints last week. The Bucs get back on track by running the football and controlling the clock and getting the ball to Vincent Jackson off play-action.
Prediction: Tampa Bay 21 St Louis 20
Cleveland Browns vs. Denver Broncos
With two more wins, the Broncos will secure a first-round bye in the playoffs and ensure that the Patriots (or another team) have to come to Denver. Handling the Browns at home shouldn’t be a problem for Peyton Manning and Von Miller. Time to pad my record…
Prediction: Denver 34 Cleveland 13
Minnesota Vikings vs. Houston Texans
The Texans will use their running game to keep Adrian Peterson off the field and use Andre Johnson to score points. Peterson will be held to fewer than 200 yards for the first time in seemingly forever.
Prediction: Houston 33 Minnesota 17
Hole # 15 Recap:
Browns 21 Redskins 17 Loss – Looks like the Skins got themselves another young QB in the wings in Cousins…good problem to have.
Prediction: Broncos 31 Ravens 24 Win – This game wasn’t as close as the final score indicated. Denver is on a roll in all 3 aspects of the game and Baltimore is in trouble. Flacco should just keep his mouth shut as he isn’t a top level QB at all.
Prediction: Chargers 34 Panthers 21 Loss – It’s clear that the Chargers need an overhaul and that will start at the top of the organization. Look for them to mail it in and look at young players the rest of the way.
Prediction: Raiders 1 Chiefs 0 Win – At least I got the shutout correct. What an ugly game…it’s cool to see the old AFL colors going at it though.
Prediction: 49ers 24 Patriots 23 Win – If you went to bed at half-time, you missed a pretty entertaining game between these potential SB contenders. NE just ran out of juice at the end.
Weekly Total: 3 – 2. Total for the year: 45 – 30.
Chipper’s Top will be up tomorrow nite.
The Chipper’s Top 5
Washington Redskins (7-6) vs. Cleveland Browns (5-8)
A hobbled RGIII against a tough Browns defense puts the advantage firmly in the Browns’ corner. So does the fact that Josh Gordon can’t be stopped by the overrated DeAngelo Hall. Yes, the Browns have won three in a row and look to make it 4….
Prediction: Browns 21 Redskins 17
Denver Broncos (10-3) vs. Baltimore Ravens (9-4)
Baltimore’s ailing defense will need to contain Peyton Manning, and Joe Flacco will just be trying to outscore him. The Broncos not only have something to prove, but Peyton Manning and the Broncos have had extra time to prepare since the Broncos played last Thursday.
Prediction: Broncos 31 Ravens 24
Carolina Panthers (4-9) vs. San Diego Chargers (5-8)
The Chargers play well when the games are virtually meaningless. That’s what will continue at home against the up & down Panthers. The Carolina team we saw on Sunday is not the real Panthers. What you saw against the Steelers from SD was the annual late-season surge.
Prediction: Chargers 34 Panthers 21
Kansas City Chiefs (2-11) vs. Oakland Raiders (3-10)
May be fun to watch just for nostalgia reasons…but really, who cares? Sorry Row and David.
Prediction: Raiders 1 Chiefs 0
San Francisco 49ers (9-3-1) vs. New England Patriots (10-3)
The San Francisco defense is unlike anything Brady has seen this year, and I’m not so sure the New England front five can stop the Smith Brothers off the edge. The 49ers get the win on the road in New England. San Fran D-lineman Aldon Smith will inch closer to the single-season sack record. Oooooohhhh I hate the Patriots……
Prediction: 49ers 24 Patriots 23
Week # 14 Recap:
Prediction: Rams 24 Bills 23 Win – Buffalo went 3-12 on 3rd down and the Rams scored the go-ahead TD and 2 pt conversion with 48 seconds left to get the win on the road.
Prediction: Vikings 21 Bears 17 Win – A big day for Brandon Marshall didn’t get it done as the Vikings knocked Veal Cutlet out of the game in the win.
Prediction: Ravens 33 Redskins 31 Loss – The Ravens have some issues and the Redskins do too with the injury to RGIII. The Redskins QB could be out a week or two with the knee injury.
Prediction: Jaguars 12 Jets 6 Loss – The Jets run the ball 42 times in the victory. Sanchez has a quiet day and keeps his job for another week.
Prediction: Panthers 30 Falcons 28 Win – Cam Newton go crazy running and passing and hands the Falcons a bad loss.
Total for the week: 3 – 2. Total for the Year: 42 – 28
Chipper’s Top 5 on the board tomorrow night…stay tuned.
The Chippers Top 5
St. Louis Rams (5-6-1) vs. Buffalo Bills (5-7)
The Rams are coming off a tough OT win and could be sluggish, but they match up well against the Buffalo Bills. Sam Bradford should have time to work if the O-Line can put together another strong performance. The Ram’s D should hold their own and force a TO or two.
Prediction: Rams 24 Bills 23
Chicago Bears (8-4) vs. Minnesota Vikings (6-6)
This game will come down to Adrian Peterson – it has to for the Vikings to win. The defense will be chomping at the bit to get revenge. TE Kyle Rudolph is a real matchup issues for the Bears. Being home is huge for the Vikes where they are 5-1. Just give AP the damn ball!
Prediction: Vikings 21 Bears 17
Baltimore Ravens (9-3) vs. Washington Redskins (6-6)
Neither team is really healthy, but Baltimore is the better team. The Ravens haven’t lost back to back games in 3 years. As impressive as RGIII is, the Ravens still have a great D and Joe Flacco should be able to tear up the Redskins terrible pass defense.
Prediction: Ravens 33 Redskins 31
New York Jets (5-7) vs. Jacksonville Jaguars (2-10)
Neither of these teams is any good, but one has to win so why not take the home team….forgive me Bob.
Prediction: Jaguars 12 Jets 6
Atlanta Falcons (11-1) vs. Carolina Panthers (3-9)
Cam Newton presents a special challenge to any defense. This is a tougher test than the Falcons think. Atlanta has clinched the NFC South and I smell a perfect upset in the making.
Prediction: Panthers 30 Falcons 28
Hole # 13 Recap:
Prediction: Bears 21 Seahawks 10 Loss - These two “Bruising” defenses gave up a total of 817 yards from scrimmage (308 rushing) and a total of 47 first downs. An OT thriller, the Hawks get a rare W on the road.
Prediction: Jets 10 Cardinals 0 Win - The “San-Chise” gets pulled in the 2nd qtr for poor performance. They should have pulled both teams in this bore-fest.
Prediction: Browns 24 Raiders 17 Win – The Browns put up a balanced attack with 353 yds passing and 122 yds rushing as they break a 12 games road losing streak in Oakland.
Prediction: Chargers 27 Bengals 24 Loss – Looks like the Bolts are mailing it in and don’t hope to get a win on the road this week in Pittsburgh.
Prediction: Redskins 31 Giants 27 Win – Are the G-Men saving some for the home stretch? The Skins pull to within one game in the NFC East with the win as RGIII shows he’s worthy of the MVP award for 2012.
Total for the week: 3 – 2. Total for the Year: 39 – 26.
Chipper’s Top 5 coming up tomorrow night. Be watchin….
The Chipper’s Top 5
Seattle Seahawks vs. Chicago Bears
Seahawks on the road? Record: 1 – 5. Bears win.
Prediction: Bears 21 Seahawks 10
Arizona Cardinals vs. New York Jets
The Jets can still do one thing relatively well, and that’s stop the pass. Arizona won’t be able to move the ball through the air.
Prediction: Jets 10 Cardinals 0
Cleveland Browns vs. Oakland Raiders
The Raiders are in the midst of a massive rebuilding project, while the Browns are playing hard trying to convince new ownership they don’t need to be blown up. No matter if it’s Brandon Weeden or Colt McCoy under center, the Browns are the more talented team and get it done on the road for once.
Prediction: Browns 24 Raiders 17
Cincinnati Bengals vs. San Diego Chargers
The Chargers haven’t beaten a team other than Kansas City since Week 2, but there’s never a bad time to get a win.
Prediction: Chargers 27 Bengals 24
New York Giants vs. Washington Redskins
The Giants looked revived against the Packers, but the Redskins won’t back down and will match the G-Men blow for blow. Their phenom rookie quarterback will make a play at the end.
Prediction: Redskins 31 Giants 27
