The Chippers Top 5

Recap for Hole # 8:

Prediction:  Browns 21  Chargers 20  Win -  Goodbye Norv – thanks for the memories.

Prediction:  Seahawks 21  Lions 20  Loss – Somehow, the low scoring Lions pulled this out at home against a very good Seahawk D.

Prediction:  Titans 21  Colts 20 Loss – Last second heroics by the Colts on the road get them the W.

Prediction:  Jets 21 Dolphins 20 Loss – The Jets don’t have any options at QB that’s going to get this ship going in the right direction.

Prediction:  Eagles 21  Falcons 20 Loss – the Mike Vick experiment is just about over.  He’s not a top level QB…he never was.  Cut your losses and put in the kid.

Weekly Total:  1 – 4.  Total for Year:  24 – 16.

Chipper’s Top 5 hits the Board tomorrow night.  Hope you still have power and are safe.

Ok, that hole was more like what we’ve seen so far this round.  Pretty tough pin placement on that one.  No 6 Pack winners this week.  One player had 5 of the 6 but no cigar!

Just a reminder about making your picks – It is the responsibility of the players to make sure that all of your picks have successfully been entered before the deadline each week.  Changing of picks or requests to enter picks after the deadline will not be granted.

That being said, there is a Thursday Night game again this week and the deadline is 7:00 pm CST.  This is also the deadline for those that are still alive in the 2nd Chance PSG Survivor Pool.  The Survivor picks must be made prior to the Thursday Night game deadline.

Good luck this week and here’s a picture of one of the two lucky winners that scored a Hole in One  last week and snagged the $500 Prize!

Hole in One Winner Hole # 7

The Chippers Top 5

Predictions for Week 8:

San Diego Chargers (3 – 3) @ Cleveland Browns (1 – 6)

Upset city. The Chargers tend to play down to their opponents, and while the Browns have struggled, their defense is good enough to bring out the Philip Rivers interception mode.

Prediction:  Browns 21  Chargers 20

Seattle Seahawks (4 – 3) @ Detroit Lions (2 – 4)

Seattle doesn’t play well on the road, but the Detroit Lions don’t play well anywhere. The Seahawks’ secondary will keep Calvin Johnson out of the end zone and make Matthew Stafford pay behind the Lions’ struggling offensive line.

Prediction:  Seahawks 21  Lions 20

Indianapolis Colts (3 – 3) @ Tennessee Titans (3 – 4)

Matt Hasselbeck gets yet another start for the Titans. He’s been effective, to say the least. Andrew Luck has been up and down, but the ups sure give you the sense that we’re watching the beginning of a great career. Unfortunately, for Colts fans, there isn’t a win to enjoy this week.

Prediction:  Titans 21  Colts 20

Miami Dolphins (3 -3) @ New York Jets (3 – 4)

If the Jets play the way they did against New England, they’ll win. The problem is Rex Ryan’s team generally plays down to its competition. If the Jets do that this week, Ryan Tannehill will lead his Dolphins to a win.

Prediction:  Jets 21 Dolphins 20

Atlanta Falcons (6 – 0) @ Philadelphia Eagles (3 – 3)

The Falcons have barely survived the last three weeks and appear to be due for a loss. The Eagles are in the opposite situation. Desperate and in front of the home crowd, I think they’ll pull it off.

Prediction:  Eagles 21  Falcons 20

Recap of Week # 7:

Prediction:  Giants 24  Redskins  23  Win -  RGIII did his best to show he was back and in top form but my boy Eli just said No!  I haven’t seen as quick a release of the ball since Marino played as Griffin has.  He will be great…just not yet.

Prediction:  Texans 35  Ravens 24  Win – Too many injuries on the D side of the Ravens team to overcome.  Houston is by far the most complete team in the AFC.

Prediction:  Vikings  21  Cardinals  6  Win – A Peterson is back with a vengeance for the Vikings and with that improving D, the Vikings will contend for the Black & Blue Division crown with Detroit sinking fast.

Prediction:  Raiders 37  Jaguars 10 Win – Raider Nation is still dancing with this incredible comeback in the Bay.  Jacksonville had them down but couldn’t finish the dance.

Prediction:  Saints  45  Buccaneers  28  Win – The Saints are firing on all cylinders now and with the coaching staff coming back, they will be breathing down the Falcons neck.

Weekly Total:  5 – 0.  Year to Date Record: 23 – 12.

Watch for the Chipper’s Top 5 tomorrow night.

The Superintendant and I have both agreed that the Par 4 7th hole at PigSkin National Golf Course will be lengthened by some 100 yards to prevent the massacre that just happened!  I don’t recall the scoring on a single hole being so good.  The average score on #7 was an incredible 3.85!

Well – Where do I start with the accolades.  Here we go:  A standing ovation is in order for both WINNING!!! and VegasAvalanche on the White Tee for scoring the rounds first PERFECT WEEK!  Each has won $500 for their efforts!  They both also scored an Ace or 3 under on the hole!   I also gotta give kudos to another 5 winners of the weekly PigSkinGolf 6-Pack contest.  The winners of $50 each are all on the White Tee and they are:  Beau, mkomara412, SlapShot, VegasAvalanche and of course WINNING!!!.   If you folks could send me an email to give me an updated mailing address, I’ll get those checks in the mail asap.

Some statistics for Hole # 7:  There were 49 players who scored a 4 or better.  Of those 49, 32 scored under par with 13 getting an Eagle and the two above who threw in a Hole In One!

You’ll notice that there are some differences in the layout of the PSG Website.  The crack IT Department has rearranged some of the parts and flopped the Leaderboards on the right side.  The “2nd 6 Hole” Board is on top now  to showcase the standings of the 7th through 12th hole scoring.  The Board on the bottom right is showing the overall standings of the entire round to date.

There are only 9 entries left standing now on the 2nd Chance PSG Survivor Pool.  We’re getting pretty deep into this so I’ll start to see some of you sweat a little going forward.  Good Luck to you all.

A little game picking admin:  Please understand the following as it relates to the cut-off times for making your picks.  For the Survivor Game, you must make your selection for the week prior to the 1st game (usually Thursday Night) on the schedule.  If you don’t – you’re out!  The cut-off time will be approximately 20-30 minutes before kick-off.  The time will be shown on the list of games to be played on the “View/Change My Picks” page.  For the players in the regular PSG game, please make a note of the cut-off times for the rest of the games on the schedule.  Sunday and Monday Night games will normally have the same cut-off time as the first games on Sunday.  This is done so that when the deadline hits, everyone can click on the “Compare All Picks” button to see everybodys picks for the week.  If you have any questions, please drop me a line.

Good Luck on the 8th hole and after that scoring barrage on #7, don’t get too cocky!!

Brian

What a great Birthday present that was last night! My boy Peyton and the Broncos storming back to gut the Chargers on Monday Night Football!! Let’s see….Patriots? Nope. Ravens? Nope. Steelers? Nope. Texans? Nope. Chargers? Please….. Who do you not want to play against in the AFC Championship Game? The Broncos that who.

Okay….we are officially done with the first 6 Holes of the 2012 Round of PSG and it’s time to congratulate some winners…This battle for 1st, 2nd & 3rd went deep into the Tie-Breaking system and here are the results:

On the White Tee: 1st Place and $125 goes to jets2436. 2nd Place and $100 goes to bfairweather. 3rd Place and $75 goes to ArubaCaz.

On the Blue Tee: 1st Place and $250 goes to mcsmarty. 2nd Place and $200 goes to Annie. 3rd Place and $150 goes to Eagle.

Sweet Job so far and Congratulations to you all!! I need the winners to kindly send me a return email with a current address where the checks can be sent, I’d appreciate it.

Now we’re going to play the 2nd 6 Hole segment of the round. The slate is wiped clean and it’s anyone’s contest to step up and win the 2nd 6 Hole prizes. Also, remember that you’re playing an entire 18 hole round so your score through the first 6 holes will remain and you’re simply moving on to the 7th Hole. There’s Prize money for the 18 Hole winners too. Drop me a line if you don’t get it.

There weren’t any 6 Pack Winners this week as you all know the afternoon games pretty much stiff-armed everyone. Take a look at the Home Page to see this weeks 6 Pack of Games and also a Recap of the (horrible) Chipper’s Top 5 picks.

Everyone is out on the original $5,000 Survivor Pool Contest but there are still 10 Entries remaining on the 2nd Chance $1,000 Survivor Contest! Good Luck to you the rest of the way.

Don’t forget to click on the “News” Button in the center of the Home Page to get all the NFL information and up to the minute stories of your players and teams.

Thursday game again….The Survivor players need to make their pick by the deadline Thursday night and the PSG players need only pick the Thursday Night Game and pick the rest by the deadline on Sunday.

That’s all…Congrats to the winners and get to work on your short games!!

Brian

The Chippers Top 5

Predictions for Week 7:

Washington Redskins (3–3) @ New York Giants (4-2)

The Redskins have a lot going for them, but the Giants are years ahead on offense and infinitely scarier on defense. Could this be a Giants letdown from their win against SF last week? The Redskins offense is playing well but the pass rush of the G-Men will open up rushing lanes for Robert Griffin III and Alfred Morris.  Eli to the rescue once again.

Prediction:  Giants 24  Redskins  23

Baltimore Ravens (5-1) @ Houston Texans (5-1)

If the Ravens were healthy they would have a great shot at taking down the Texans. They’re catching the Texans ticked off after losing their first game against GB last week.  This week they get back to pounding the football. That will help keep the ball away from Joe Flacco, Ray Rice and the Ravens offense.

Prediction:  Texans 35  Ravens 24

Arizona Cardinals (4-2) @ Minnesota Vikings (4-2)

John Skelton, Kevin Kolb…who cares? Neither one is any good, and the Vikings have a tough defense. Adrian Peterson will open things up for Christian Ponder against a tough Cardinals secondary. Arizona has started to slide down and it’s no easier this week. The Cardinals offensive hods this team back.

Prediction:  Vikings  21  Cardinals  6

Jacksonville Jaguars (1-4) @ Oakland Raiders (1-4)

Oakland was minutes away from pulling off a major upset in Atlanta until Carson Palmer threw a horrible interception. This week, Palmer won’t be asked to lead a last-minute drive to win, mostly because the Raiders will have the game well in hand by the fourth quarter.

Prediction:  Raiders 37  Jaguars 10

New Orleans Saints (1-4) @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-3)

Neither team will be able to stop the other. I see this game as an offensive onslaught. Because of that, I’ll take Drew Brees and the Saints over Josh Freeman and the Bucs any day.

Prediction:  Saints  45  Buccaneers  28

Recap of Week # 6:

Eagles  31 Lions 21  Loss – The Defensive Coordinator for the Eagles  isn’t the only one that should have gotten fired after this meltdown against the Lions.  Terrible loss.

Rams 17  Dolphins  14  Loss – Really thought the Rams D would have held the Fish to very little points-certainly enough to pull this one out on the road.

Colts 24  Jets  17  Loss – the “San-Chise”  lives to fight another week in Jersey.  Shouldn’t have gone with a rookie QB on the road…..Lesson learned….

Vikings 20  Redskings 17  Loss – The Skins hounded QB Ponder all day into mistakes and put a solid whoop ass on the Purple People.

Broncos 31  Chargers 30  Win -  Happy Birthday Brian!!!  Thanks Peyton for saving my week!  This loss could possibly have broken the spirit of SD and finally cost the head coach his job.

Weekly Total:  1 – 4.  Year to Date Record:  18 – 12
